Media sterotyping

Image
Grand Theft Auto V Franklin is supposed to be a street hoodlum. They stereotype this by making him a young black man. The player can also choose to make him wear gang clothing like bandanas and balaclava. Michael is supposed to be an ex-criminal who is old, wise, and rich. They show this by making him wear suits and a father figure to Franklin. Trevor Trevor is an insane murdering psychopath, the stereotypes they use to make him appear like this is unclean clothing and tattoos.

Representations (Theorists)

Stuart Hall - 'Representation is the production of meaning through language' (spoken or visual). He suggests that reality is mediated through language. This means what the camera does to tell us a story of the product. Media always has an agenda to make the public think one way about a story. Richard Dyer - 'complexity and diversity of a group or individual is reduced to a few limited characterisitcis' Laura Mulvey - 'the audience view women from the vantage point of a heterosexual man'

Dailys

The first day of shooting I recorded in my house. I recorded all the scenes with Jack at his house on day 1. The second day of shooting was recorded in the production room at Sunderland college, this was the footage of the scientist knowing that Jack was not believing in the virtual reality he was in.

Un Used footage/ bloopers

Un used footage I planned on using this footage as a 'flashback' to before Jack realized he was alone. However, I decided not using this footage as I was unable to get more cast and thought the scientist was a more valuable character than the friend in the flashback. I deleted all my bloopers thinking I wouldn't need them stupidly. However, my mistakes were basically me forgetting the script, I should have tried to remember the script better.

Media movie post-production

What did I use to film/edit? -I used a cannon camera to record -I used a 16gb SD card to store the footage -I used premier pro to edit the footage My editing techniques -I used the razor tool to cut apart footage -I put sci-fi sounds over scenes like the one which the scientist, this shows the scientists is in a laboratory -I got sounds of a camera to go over the security -I used a lot of static to create suspense and confusion, the confusion makes the audience wonder what is going on Did I meet the code and conventions of my genre? -Used static which added a lot of suspense, which I think fits under the mystery genre - I used the sci-fi sounds over the laboratory scene which fits under the sci-fi genre -I used the piano effect at the end to fulfill the drama effect, it should influence the way the audience feel about the ending and they should feel sad Alone (Directors commentary)
