Preparation for filming

Costume For costumes I wanted to show that the main character George was a normal working man who lived an innocent life before getting blackmailed. So to do this I used a plain white shirt with a black tie to show he is a worker. I also needed a hoodie for stalker character however the person playing him didn't have any and we could get any that would fit him. So instead we used one of his jackets with a large collar and used that to 'hide' his face. Location For locations I needed a bathroom for filming the dressing scene. However, my own bathroom is to small for filming in so I used my friends Luke's bathroom which was quite large and perfect for filming in. We also needed a path that we could use that wouldn't have people walk passed them so we used our college campus and used a none populated area. Then for the scene shot in the bar we very luckily had a friend with a bar in his house and used that for the filming. The scene where the blackmail is d...

Editing evaluation

Image
The Film I used simple however effective editing in my film. I used white on black text as it suggests good and evil. It's also simple and stands out well. To make this I added a a graphic to the screen with text. For all my scenes I cut out unwanted parts like '3,2,1 action' and any laughing at the start or end. I did this by using the Razor tool. This allows me to have the footage precisely how I want it. Here is where I added audio into my production. I used music I downloaded that I believed fit the scenes and created a calm tone in the scene. I also used a sound effects like fire crackling when paper was burning and also a death sound effect when the bad guy was punched. Trailer The editing for the trailer used a lot of quick cuts and made it fast paced so the viewer is more engaged. It also gives the impression of chaos. I removed all the audio from the clips and just used the classical music over the full trailer so it contrasted with the chaotic ...

Camera angles evaluation

Image
I used a wide variation of camera angles in the production of my film. This shot has me at the centre of the frame showing that I am important. It is also a medium distance shot as it shows half my body in the shot. There is a slight tilt on the camera this can portray the character to be slightly mad or anxious. In this scene I used a over shoulder shot to show that I am being followed. Over the shoulder has the effect in a stalking scene that since you can see the person following, it suggests the person knows he is being followed. I also then made this shot in a POV style since it's a conversation. An example of this being used in other productions is Peep Show. The POV perspective is effective for the the viewer to see what the character see's and is doing. This is the other side of the POV conversation and what the other person see's. POV shows us what the character is seeing in the moment. So it suits the style of a conversation. This is a medium shot ...

Learning aim D

I attended a trip to Teeside University in which there were multiple people related to media in someway. First we had a talk with a journalist from the SportsBible who spoke about how the Social Media business worked with journalism. He told us how he got into the role as a journalist and how he would recommend it to anyone. He spoke about having this job has given him a lot of security and no worry in not having work. Whereas if he was freelance he would most likely have a lot less work. He also mentioned how he gets to travel a lot for his job and enjoys it a lot. However, I not very interested in journalism or sports so I know this career isn't for me. One person in the industry that I know well is Gilly Hope the BBC news presenter and journalist. She does the traffic for BBC Look North. She was my lecturer add Sunderland College where she teaches Media. We went on a trip as a class with her to the BBC Look North building and had a look at the ins and outs of the production of...

Unit 2 interview

Image
I believe I should have researched more about how to get into the industry as an editor. Also I should have had a longer look over my previous accomplishments and picked out my best work to talk about. I also should have looked at qualifications required for being an editor at different levels, for example what is required to be an editor for the BBC. I also should have done more work experience prior to this interview. I should have also done some practice interviews to get ready for the interview so I could prepare for some questions. I should have especially prepared for questions like my weaknesses and how others would describe me as I found it hard to judge myself weather bad or positive. I feel I should think more about the future for where I want to be in the media industry.

Unit 2 Business card

Image
I made this business card for my editing 'business'. I made it simple and used contrasting colours to get the attention of the reader. It has all the text in bold also to stand out. I put a phone number and my email on the card too.
